The project leaded by Pablo Gomez, one of our Spanish volunteers, addresses the transformation of daily waste products into new objects with different utilities. The target group are children; and the methodology chosen is non-formal education through learning by discovering. In other words, children will learn by practice how easy is to 'create' leisure or fun reusing materials or objects.
These workshops are usually taking place in Cristuru and Betfalva (by so far), at schools or civic centers where children in danger of social exclusion can attend.
During our first workshop kids, among other activities, used cardboard eggs boxes, paints and table tennis balls to create a an entertaining and addictive 'board game'. They loved it.
In Betfalva, we discovered how some seeds, in particular lentils, are able to 'contain life' in themselves for years. Some old jars, wet ground, plant the seed and days later the first green shoots will appear. Additionally, we also discovered how to build a giant photo frame or photocall with cans, paint and some recycled-little-objects such as ring cans or shells.
Last but not least, this week we've been working with teenagers trying to develop their creativity and green conscious; talking about the huge amount of possibilities that plastic bottles offer us once used. From small items for our bedrooms to bridges or even cars. There's no limit in the possible uses of this material and the impact on our community or even society can become huge.
We hope you enjoyed this introduction to the first of our projects and we promised to keep working with and for the community.
