I wanted to challenge myself, completely change the environment which is usual to me and go to the place where I have never been. Since I am going to study psychology one day, I wished to gain more experience working with people from different backgrounds, develope my empathy and patience. I chose Romania because I have heard millions of stereotypes about this country from people around me and I wanted to see the reality. In Cristuru Secuiesc I am working with disabled children, helping them not only to learn how to deal with everyday tasks but also trying to be the part of their daily education and activities. Despite the fact that this can be very shocking and hard sometimes, especially since I am not speaking their language, so far I really enjoy every hour which I spend with those kids. Their passion for life, smiley eyes and different characters are inspirational. I really hope that during long six month period I will be able to get closer to our city community, meet new, interesting people, learn more about Romanian and Hungarian culture and traditions, see the real beauty of Romania and collect a huge amount of precious and sweet memories from a life changing adventure.
Brigita wished to have a gap year
My name is Brigita and I am from Lithuania. I just finished highschool and decided that I don't want to go to university directly after it because that would be too easy.
